You know that feeling you get when you avoid looking at your bank balance after a couple of weeks of careless spending? Or the hesitation you feel about going to get a checkup after years of not going to the doctors? Or the tension you feel about having to bring up a confrontational issue with your boss or partner?
Well, that sensation exists both consciously and unconsciously. This theme of avoidance is in everything from our thoughts around sex to our career decisions. It affects our motivation, happiness, and purpose.
My latest book "mind." is a philosophical exploration of just that. In it we come face to face with the parts in ourselves we avoid. Much like a credit card bill that’s smaller than you thought, a clean bill of health, or a well-received conversation, this book leaves the reader with a sense of relief and contentment about themselves they didn’t know they needed until they were able to experience it.
